Tess Rountree

Volleyball has been a major part of Tess’s life for as long as she can remember. Tess grew up participating in sports of all types, but, eventually, this was thinned down to volleyball and track where she excelled.

In high school volleyball, she was named First Team All-league three years in a row, culminating with her being named league MVP and the ‘San Luis Obispo County Player of the Year’. In college, Tess was First Team All-league all four years she played and League MVP in both her junior and senior years.

After graduation, Tess attended a tryout in Maribor, Slovenia for the European tour. She ended up being picked up before the tryouts even started and found herself traveling to Budapest, Hungary with another American where they played together successfully for the next two years. She ended playing around the world for almost five years for teams in Sweden, Manila, Nepal, Germany (in the very prestigious Bundesliga), and Peru, earning many accolades along the way.

As part of her transition from player to coach, Tess started her coaching career coaching camps in her summers home. She has coached itinerantly at camps in Montana and Illinois, where she was the ‘advanced players’ coach at Nike Camps for the past three years. She has also coached volleyball in a school setting several times.

Tess brings knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm with her. Volleyball has been a big part of many her life experiences. She enjoys being able to share this with younger players and giving them similar opportunities.
